Migrant Education Program (MEP) Coordinator/Director

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB TASKS:

  1. Interacting with Computers—Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, or process information.  This includes: computers to enter, access or retrieve data and using word processing, spreadsheet and desktop publishing software.
  2. Communicating with Supervisors or Peers—Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  3. Performing Clerical Activities—Performing day-to-day clerical tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork. This includes: filling out forms and purchase requisitions, maintaining digital calendars, processing invoices, routing multi-line telephone calls, and typing correspondence.
  4. Getting Information—Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  5. Documenting/Recording Information—Entering, recording storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form. This includes: entering time sheet information, performing typing or data entry, preparing meeting materials, and taking messages.
  6. Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships—Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
  7. Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work—Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.  
  8. Communicating with Persons Outside Organization—Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone, email or other digital means.
  9. Working Directly with the Public— This includes staff, school personnel and members of the public.
  10. Scheduling Work and Activities—Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others. This includes: arranging teleconference calls, making travel arrangements, scheduling meetings or appointments, and scheduling or contracting meeting facilities.
  11. Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge—Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. This includes using oral and written communication techniques.  Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
  12. Making Decisions and Solving Problems—Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  13. Monitoring Processes, Materials, or Surroundings—Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  14. Maintain knowledge of current MEP federal regulatory guidance requirements and Nebraska MEP standards.
  15. Provide instruction to support the educational needs of migrant students in the area(s) of school readiness, reading/writing/mathematics, and/or graduation and services to out of school youth.
  16. Have knowledge of state and federal MEP policies and procedures.
  17. Support communication between migrant families and schools to monitor student academic success.
  18. Administer and maintain records of formative assessments used to identify students’ needs and measure continual progress.
  19. Support communication between migrant families and schools to monitor student academic success.
  20. Create a regular implementation plan for providing supplemental instructional and support services, including location, students served, content objectives and lesson outlines.
  21. Knowledge of research based education practices to be used during tutoring sessions.
  22. Encourage and facilitate attendance at the summer school programs.
  23. Provide supplement support services to migrant students and their families.
  24. Maintain consistent contact with families and parents to communicate student needs and progress.
  25. Maintain accurate data and demographics on each student.
  26. Promote and attend local, state, and national MEP sponsored events and trainings.
  27. Collaborate and coordinate with local agencies to provide necessary supplemental support services.
  28. Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of students and families.
  29. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning MEP staff, migrant students and families.
  30. Complete routine paperwork.
  31. Adhere to all ESU 7 policies, procedures, and supervisory directives.
  32. Perform other duties as assigned.
