Educational Service Unit 7 is seeking to hire an additional District Technology Coordinator to serve the Columbus Catholic School System (CCS). CCS is comprised of Scotus Central Catholic High School, St. Isidore Elementary, St. Bonaventure Elementary, and St. Anthony Elementary.

 

This position primarily manages a variety of technical requests from any of the four schools on a daily basis. Requests can range from simple client requests to more complex network or server infrastructure issues. 5+ years of network / client management experience is preferred, but not required. Technology in use at these schools include: Windows & Apple OS X clients, Chromebooks, Google Admin Console, iPadOS, Aruba, HP, Ubiquiti Unifi, Ubiquiti UISP, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Filewave Mobile Device Managment, Ninja RMM, & ITGlue.

 

Educational Service Unit 7 is inter-mediate government organization tasked with providing support to a region of schools in Nebraska. We are a relatively small organization that fosters a family culture and prioritizes our staff as people and not numbers.

 

Educational Service Unit 7 is located in Columbus, Nebraska. Columbus, NE is the 10th largest city in Nebraska with a population of 24,000 located in the eastern third of the state. There are plenty of activities for youth and you can get anywhere in city limits within 10 minutes.

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB TASKS:

  1. Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, peripheral or network equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  2. Oversee the daily performance of staff and student computer network systems.
  3. Set up equipment for staff and student use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
  4. Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
  5. Communicate with supervisor and co-workers by telephone, in written form, email, or in person to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
  6. Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
  7. Refer to major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
  8. Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  9. Read trade magazines and technical manuals, and attend conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of hardware and software.
  10. Modify and customize commercial programs for internal needs.
  11. Answer users’ inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
  12. Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
  13.  Other duties as assigned.

TECHNOLOGY EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and other computer hardware and software, including applications and basic programming / scripting.
  2. Operating Systems – Knowledge of Mac OS X and Windows, and Linux/UNIX client / server network operating systems administration and current trends.
  3. Telecommunications/Networking- Knowledge of transmission, routing, switching, control, and operation of wired, wireless, PBX or VoIP telecommunications systems along with a thorough understanding of the OSI model, networking protocols within, and TCP/IPv4 subnetting.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Inside offices and throughout the ESU 7 campus and district buildings.
  1. Primary work area is air-conditioned, but may travel to non air-conditioned buildings subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
